Personal Honours, Queens Awards for Voluntary Service and how to get nominated
At this year’s AGM we were delighted to be joined by members of the West Midlands Lieutenancy, representatives of Her Majesty The Queen in the West Midlands.
Dale Guest, Honours Co-Ordinator for the West Midlands Lieutenancy and Simon Topman Deputy Lieutenant with responsibility for Queens Awards told us about the honours and awards available, how to apply for them, and how to give yourself the greatest chance of success.
Knighthoods, CBE, OBE, MBE and British Empire Medals; the West Midlands gets less than it should be compared to other regions. If we double the number of honours awarded this would bring the region up to where we should be.
The same applies to Queens Awards for Voluntary Service. The highest award a voluntary organisation can achieve, equivalent to an MBE...and only 18 winners last year.
We know that the region deserves to do better! The Lieutenancy is keen to get behind worthy individuals and organisations to help them get the recognition they deserve.
