Practitioner Forum: Self-neglect a lifestyle choice or safeguarding concern?

Hosted by Birmingham City Council; the case example considers the complexities of self-neglect and will explore the application of The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983.

A range of professionals from local services come together to deliberate complex adult safeguarding cases prepared and presented by partnership colleagues to discuss challenges, reflect on practice, learn from one another, and gain a greater understanding of each other’s professional roles whilst finding innovative solutions to the challenges presented using the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal.  Working in smaller groups, practitioners discuss the case example(s); supported by a group facilitator.  Groups give feedback on key safeguarding issues and potential solutions identified during their discussion.
